About Balfour Louisville
Balfour Louisville opened in 1999 on a campus in Louisville, Colorado, set between Lake Hecla and the base of the Rocky Mountains. Independent living, assisted living, memory care and skilled nursing all share this one campus. Three of its buildings, The Lodge, The Residences and Balfour Retirement Community, together hold 296 units, and the Lavender Farms community also stands on the grounds near the main address of 1855 Plaza Drive.
The Lodge, at 1331 Hecla Drive, takes its design from a Colorado mountain lodge, with exposed wood beams and a stone exterior. Assisted living residents at Balfour Louisville receive personalized care around the clock in a private apartment, with three chef-prepared meals served each day. Memory care takes place in a secure neighborhood designed for people living with Alzheimer's disease or another form of dementia, and licensed staff are present there at all hours.
Memory care residents receive around-the-clock supervision in a setting dedicated to their care. Days in the memory care neighborhood follow structured routines, with therapeutic activities as part of the schedule. Skilled nursing provides licensed medical care and rehabilitation at any hour for residents who need ongoing clinical support, recovery assistance or advanced health monitoring. Physical, occupational and speech therapies are offered on the premises.
Dining at Balfour Louisville takes place in restaurant-style venues found in different parts of the campus. Lodge Telluride and Aspen Grill are the two primary dining venues inside The Lodge, and Gardenside Grill is the restaurant for the Lavender Farms community. For exercise, the campus has two heated indoor saltwater pools for use throughout the year, and a fully equipped fitness studio is available in every building.
The Lodge adds a library and a business center to the shared spaces open to its residents. Complimentary scheduled transportation takes residents to shopping, banking and pharmacies, among other destinations around town. Independent living floor plans at Balfour Louisville range from a 719-square-foot one-bedroom to a 1,510-square-foot cottage, and The Lodge by itself contains 95 independent living units and 8 cottages.
Assisted living plans begin with a 385-square-foot studio and reach up to a 1,050-square-foot two-bedroom with two baths. The Lodge also includes a parking garage and a storage area set aside for residents, and pets are welcome on the campus. Balfour Louisville is set up for older adults who want independent living today and would like assisted living, memory care and skilled nursing within the same campus if their needs change later on.
People living with dementia who need a secure setting, and those who need ongoing clinical support or recovery assistance, also have care available on these same grounds. Residents who want a larger home in independent living have two-bedroom plans and cottages among the floor plans, while assisted living begins with studios and one-bedroom apartments. In Louisville itself, Historic Downtown keeps 100-year-old wooden buildings along Main, Front and Pine streets, an area that is home to more than 100 businesses and a local art scene.
Intermountain Health Good Samaritan Hospital stands about two and a half miles from the campus in Lafayette, and AdventHealth Avista, a 114-bed hospital, is about 3 miles away in Louisville. For groceries, a King Soopers store stands on East South Boulder Road in Louisville.
Environment
The campus brings together The Lodge, The Residences, Balfour Retirement Community and the Lavender Farms community, and walking paths are part of the grounds. Independent living residents have full access to the community grounds and their paths.
Services
Independent living includes a private apartment, chef-prepared dining, housekeeping, scheduled transportation and fitness and wellness amenities. Assisted living adds laundry service and life-enrichment programming to the housekeeping, dining and transportation it also includes.
Resident Experience
Independent living residents follow an active life-enrichment calendar, and The Lodge gives them a community living room, a bar, a community room and a crafts room. Assisted living residents have wellness, salon and concierge services on site.
