About BeeWell Assisted Living

BeeWell Assisted Living is a small assisted living home on West Kiowa Street, tucked into the west side of Colorado Springs a few blocks from Old Colorado City. Rather than a wing inside a large building, it is a single house that tops out at 16 residents, which is the whole point of the place: daily life keeps to the size of a household, and the same faces show up day after day. The care here is straightforward assisted living, with staff helping residents with medication, dressing, bathing, and moving safely around the house, and someone awake and on hand through the night.

As a resident comes to need more help, more support arrives to meet them. There is no memory care wing and no independent living apartments; this is one care level, delivered in one house, on a private-pay basis. What residents and families tend to notice first is the caregiving team. People who work here stay, and over a year or two a resident is looked after by caregivers who know their routines, their preferences, and their family by name.

Meals come out of the kitchen and are eaten together, the week carries a light rhythm of small-group activities and visiting musicians, and holidays are marked as a household rather than as a scheduled event on a large calendar. Because it is a 16-bed home, BeeWell suits a family drawn to a small, personal setting over the amenities and scale of a 60- or 100-bed community. It's private-pay only, so Medicaid billing doesn't apply here, and pets aren't accommodated.

On the west side of Colorado Springs, the shops and cafes of Old Colorado City and downtown are minutes away, UCHealth Memorial Hospital Central and Penrose Hospital sit a short drive east and north, and Pikes Peak stands over the neighborhood to the west. Run as an independent home rather than a chain property, BeeWell trades the long amenity list of a bigger complex for consistency: a small house, a stable team, and care that adjusts quietly as a resident's needs change.

Environment

BeeWell is a single house on West Kiowa Street on the west side of Colorado Springs, near Old Colorado City. Sunlight fills the shared living and dining areas, and with room for only 16 residents, the place keeps the feel of a private home rather than an institutional building, right down to the yard and quiet street outside.

Services

Daily support here means medication reminders, getting dressed, bathing, and a steady hand moving through the house, day or night, with support increasing quietly as more is needed. BeeWell keeps to one level of care, assisted living only, run privately, without a memory care wing or independent living apartments.

Resident Experience

Life unfolds at the pace of a household, where the people who work here often stay for years, so residents are looked after by familiar faces rather than a rotating staff. Dinner is cooked in-house and eaten together, and the week carries small-group outings, visiting musicians, and holidays marked the way a family would.

Advisor Insight on
BeeWell Assisted Living

Families comparing a small home to a large complex often land on BeeWell for its scale alone: 16 residents in one house near Old Colorado City, cared for by a team that tends to stay put and learns each person's routine well beyond the first few weeks.

Best for: A close-knit, 16-resident home where the same caregivers return day after day, not a large, rotating cast of staff.
Consider if: BeeWell holds 16 residents, skips memory care, independent living, and Medicaid billing, and can't accommodate a resident's pet.
Ask on tour: Ask who covers overnight shifts, how pricing moves as a resident needs more help, and exactly what the starting rate includes.
Comparison: Far smaller and more household-scaled than the 60-to-100-bed communities typical of Colorado Springs.

It is a lovely home. Beautiful windows and other decor and build. They did have bed bugs when I was there, but that can happen anywhere. My new shoes got stolen the first night, but staff replaced them. I thought that was very kind. I don't recall what went wrong, but I believe…

The staff is amazing here! My loved one has resided here for over a year. Nice area. The home is comfortable but could use updating however the staff is what makes my review five star.
