About Springwood Retirement
Five acres of the original Springwood Retirement land were given to the City of Arvada and later became Stott Elementary School and Yankee Doodle Park, which now sits about a tenth of a mile from the campus. Springwood Retirement itself covers 15 acres of landscaped gardens with walking paths and mountain views in a quiet Arvada neighborhood, and its five residences together provide independent living, assisted living and memory care.
Nightingale Suites is the assisted living residence, with 72 beds in individual apartments that each have a private bathroom and shower, in plans that run from studios of about 256 square feet up to two bedrooms. Care follows a personalized plan that covers help with daily activities and medication management. Healthcare professionals work on site day and night, carrying out regular health assessments and staying in touch with residents' other healthcare providers.
Physical and occupational therapy and other wellness services are part of assisted living, as are housekeeping, laundry and emergency call systems. Memory care is centered in Nightingale Lane, a 28-bed building designed for people who need Alzheimer's and dementia care. Residents there have walking paths and an outdoor area of their own, and inside, the layout is open. Memory care at Springwood Retirement provides a secure setting with emergency call systems, along with specially trained staff at any hour of the day or night.
Days bring music therapy, sensory experiences, memory games and physical exercise, as well as the Memories in the Making art program from the Alzheimer's Association, all within steady routines in a homelike setting. Independent living at Springwood Retirement is divided among three different residences on the campus grounds. Springwood Apartments offers one-bedroom plans from about 565 to 695 square feet and two-bedroom, two-bath plans of about 801 square feet, where meal planning, cooking, housekeeping and linen service are handled for residents and a manager is on site.
The Fountains is a 41-unit building of one- and two-bedroom apartments for adults 55 and older, with a fitness area, a club room, a fireside lounge and a manager of its own on site. The Cottages are two-bedroom, two-bath ranch-style patio homes on two cul-de-sacs, each with an in-unit laundry room, an attached garage and a covered patio, and independent living floor plans come with full kitchens and emergency call systems.
The campus Community Center holds an exercise room, a hair salon, a library, an interfaith chapel, a movie theater and a dining room, and a café is part of the campus as well. Chefs prepare the meals served in the dining room, dining includes dietary accommodations, and independent living residents can also cook in their own kitchens. Springwood Apartments residents have scheduled transportation, exercise programs, lectures, entertainment and outings.
Springwood Apartments, The Fountains, Nightingale Suites and Nightingale Lane each put out a monthly activity calendar of their own. Springwood Retirement suits older adults who want independent living, whether in an apartment with meals and housekeeping handled or in a ranch-style cottage with its own garage. It also fits residents who need help with daily activities and medication in a private apartment, and people who need Alzheimer's or dementia care in a building designed for it.
Meadowlake Park is about three-tenths of a mile from the campus in a straight line, while Harry S Truman Park, Danny Kendrick Park West and Ralston Valley Park each sit less than a mile away in this part of Jefferson County. Intermountain Health Lutheran Hospital on West 40th Avenue in Wheat Ridge is about three miles away, and a King Soopers on West 64th Avenue is under half a mile from Yank Way.
