About Eagle's Nest Assisted Living
From the windows at Eagle's Nest Assisted Living, horses graze across a pasture — a fitting introduction to this 8-resident home tucked onto a country property on Salmon Run in north Fort Collins, Colorado. A nurse practitioner and her husband own the property outright and stay personally involved in running it day to day, so the person ultimately accountable for a resident's care is present on-site rather than checking in from a corporate office somewhere else.
Caregivers help residents bathe, get dressed, and stay on top of their medications, and with so few people living under one roof, staff tend to pick up on a resident's habits and preferences quickly. The owner's clinical background as a nurse practitioner shapes how everyday health concerns get handled — a change in appetite, a new medication that needs watching, that kind of thing. The home offers a single track of care, with no adjoining memory care unit or independent living wing, so every resident receives the same steady level of assisted living support.
Chickens roam the yard, gardens bloom through the growing season, and the Front Range rises beyond the pasture fence, giving the property a working-farm feel that's hard to find inside city limits. Live music finds its way into the shared living room fairly often, and residents tend to describe the place as feeling more like a family home than a facility built for aging. Respite stays are also available, giving a family caregiver room to take a planned break or try the arrangement out before committing to a permanent move.
Eagle's Nest fits a household looking for a small, owner-operated home with a country backdrop and an owner who stays hands-on. Even with horses and chickens already sharing the grounds, the home doesn't currently make room for a resident's own cat or dog, and it operates strictly private-pay, without a Medicaid contract in place. The Salmon Run address sits near the edge of north Fort Collins, close enough to Old Town Fort Collins and the Poudre River Trail while holding onto the rural character of the land around it.
When a resident needs care beyond what the home provides, Fort Collins' hospital network, including UCHealth facilities, is close by. Because the nurse practitioner who owns Eagle's Nest also works hands-on in daily caregiving, families come to know the person actually responsible for a resident's well-being, instead of navigating a rotating cast of administrators.
Environment
Eagle's Nest Assisted Living occupies a country property on Salmon Run in north Fort Collins, home to 8 residents surrounded by pasture, chickens, and garden beds rather than a parking lot. The shared spaces feel residential throughout, closer to a private house than a built-for-purpose senior living building.
Services
The husband-and-wife owners stay hands-on with bathing, dressing, and medication reminders for each of the 8 residents, often providing that care themselves rather than delegating it. That closeness means a subtle shift in appetite or a new prescription tends to get caught early, before it turns into something bigger.
Resident Experience
Chickens and horses move around the yard, gardens bloom through the growing season, and the Front Range rises beyond the pasture fence. Live music comes into the shared living room fairly often, and many residents settle into a rhythm that feels closer to living with extended family than residing in a facility.
