About Good Samaritan Society - Loveland Village

Ponds and walking trails are set within the landscaped, park-like grounds of Good Samaritan Society - Loveland Village, a 50-acre continuing care retirement community at 2101 South Garfield Avenue in Loveland, Colorado, with a view of the Rocky Mountains from the campus. Independent living apartments, two-bedroom twin homes, assisted living apartments and a skilled nursing center all share the grounds.

The campus sits in a quiet, semi-rural area of Loveland and offers its housing and services to adults 55 and older. Assisted living apartments come with around-the-clock staffing, assessments, medication supervision, weekly laundry service and help with a shower or whirlpool bath twice each week. In the skilled nursing center, registered nurses, licensed practical nurses and certified nursing assistants are on staff 24 hours a day, with private and semi-private rooms for long-term care.

Rehabilitation therapy is offered on both an inpatient and an outpatient basis, and the nursing center is certified by Medicare as well as Medicaid. Respite care is available as support for family caregivers, and in-home services are part of the range of care offered by the community too. Assisted living residents take three meals a day in a full-service dining room, choosing among several menu options, and refreshments and snacks can be had at any hour of the day or night.

A café and a juice bar are on campus as well. Separate from the dining room, the campus amenities include a wellness center, a gym, an indoor pool, a whirlpool, a spa, a salon and a chapel. Daily interdenominational devotions are held on campus, and Sunday worship takes place in the Spiritual Life Center, where a staff chaplain serves the residents of the community. Independent living apartments come in one-bedroom, deluxe one-bedroom and two-bedroom layouts, with a 24-hour emergency call system in place for residents, and they range from 440 to 864 square feet.

Assisted living apartments have one or two bedrooms and measure from 440 to 580 square feet, with paid utilities, television and internet as part of each home. The twin homes are offered in six floor plans with two bedrooms and two full baths, starting at 1,113 square feet, and a sunroom or den is part of the design. Appliances in the twin homes include a microwave, a washer and a dryer, and full maintenance is handled for each twin home household.

The community suits adults 55 and older who want an apartment or twin home of their own now, with assisted living, rehabilitation therapy and long-term skilled nursing all located on the same 50-acre grounds. It also fits residents who would like an indoor pool, a spa, a gym and walking trails to be part of the same grounds as their home, along with a faith life that meets on campus each week. Loveland itself offers Lake Loveland, the Loveland Museum, the Benson Park Sculpture Garden and the Rialto Theater, and the concerts at Foote Lagoon are another part of life in town.

For longer day trips, Denver and Rocky Mountain National Park are each within an hour of the community on South Garfield Avenue. Banner North Colorado Medical Center has its Loveland campus on Boise Avenue, about 3 miles from the grounds of the community, while Medical Center of the Rockies on Rocky Mountain Avenue sits roughly 5 miles away.

Environment

Guest housing is one of the amenities on the campus, and a pet park is part of the outdoor spaces on the landscaped grounds as well.

Services

Complimentary transportation takes assisted living residents to medical appointments, shopping and other scheduled events. Rehabilitation in the skilled nursing center includes physical, occupational and speech therapy for inpatients and outpatients.

Advisor Insight on
Good Samaritan Society - Loveland Village

Household upkeep changes with each kind of home here, with housekeeping twice a month in the independent living apartments and weekly in assisted living, while twin home households have full maintenance taken care of. Utilities are paid in both apartment types, with telephone service the one exception on the independent living side.

Best for: Assisted living includes three meals in the dining room, staff at any hour and tray service during an illness.
Consider if: Families wanting a small home-style setting with only a few residents will want a residential community instead of a 50-acre campus.
Ask on tour: Ask which of the six twin home floor plans have openings, and how a move from a twin home or apartment into assisted living is arranged.
Comparison: In-home services are offered from the campus too, in addition to its apartments, twin homes, assisted living and long-term care center.

This is a mixed review, most all of the nurses were wonderful and overall gave great care to my Aunt for many years. There was one nurse who was curt in the way she spoke to patients, but that's a single issue and NOT the norm. The management is the issue. Olga is the most…
