About The Summit - An Eaton Community
The Summit at Eaton is an affordable independent living community for adults 62 and older at 323 South Eaton Street in Lakewood, Colorado, run by the nonprofit Eaton Senior Communities. The Summit is built for older adults who can live on their own but want a service-rich building, a full calendar, and neighbors close by, all at a price most retirement communities cannot match. The apartments are studios and one-bedrooms, many with floor-to-ceiling windows that frame the downtown Denver skyline and the Rocky Mountains, and rents include utilities.
As a HUD and Section 8 community, The Summit keeps housing genuinely affordable for residents on fixed incomes, which sets it apart from the private-pay market that dominates senior living. This is independent living rather than assisted living, so residents handle their own day-to-day care. What makes The Summit different is the menu of optional services a resident can add as they age in place, from an on-site nurse who checks blood pressure and helps with medication reminders to physical and occupational therapy in the building, so a small amount of extra help does not require a move.
Daily life centers on restaurant-style dining with garden views and a deep activity calendar, with more than two dozen programs running across trivia, art classes, and educational events. Scheduled group transportation carries residents to stores and appointments, and wellness visits on site include massage, podiatry, and optometry alongside the nurse and therapy room. The building keeps a fitness center, a library and computer room, a beauty salon, an indoor atrium and solarium, and a TV lounge, and the four acres of landscaped grounds include a dog park, picnic areas, and covered patios.
Housekeeping and laundry are available for residents who want them. Eaton Senior Communities has run affordable senior housing in Lakewood since 1980, and a senior advisor can walk a family through income eligibility, the waitlist, and which apartments are open. The location keeps residents close to care and errands. The community's setting near the Belmar district puts its open-air shopping and dining about a mile away, and St.
Anthony Hospital, a Level I trauma center, is a few miles west near the Denver Federal Center. Wadsworth Boulevard and West Alameda Avenue carry residents across Lakewood, and U.S. 6 runs nearby for a quick trip into downtown Denver. With genuinely affordable rents, a 62-and-older independent living model, and a nonprofit operator that has served Lakewood for more than four decades, The Summit at Eaton fills a gap most of the metro's senior communities leave open.

This seems to be great for my husband and me. Looks good and sounds great. But, it's not. Management is horrible and honestly not what they promise.
