What care levels exist?
Senior living is not one thing — it's a spectrum. Placing a loved one in the wrong level of care is one of the most expensive mistakes families make, in both dollars and wellbeing.
- Independent living
- Active seniors, 55+. Private apartment, meals, activities, social community — no hands-on care.
- Assisted living
- Help with bathing, dressing, medications, and mobility. 24-hour staff. Most common choice for seniors with moderate physical needs.
- Memory care
- Secured, specialized setting for Alzheimer's, dementia, or significant cognitive change. Trained staff, structured routines, safe design.
- Skilled nursing
- 24-hour medical care for complex health needs — IV meds, wound care, post-surgical rehab. Usually reserved for serious medical situations.
Why take the quiz?
- ✓ Families who match the care level correctly from the start save an average of $15,000 – $30,000 vs. families who have to move mid-year.
- ✓ Monthly costs in Utah vary by $2,000+ for identical care — knowing your budget band before tours saves real time.
- ✓ Ten minutes here can save weeks of research.

Common questions about the assessment
- Is this care assessment really free?
- Yes — the assessment is free, and so is the follow-up advisor call if you choose to have one. Communities pay us only when a family moves in, which keeps our advice unbiased and the whole service free for families.
- How accurate is the care-level recommendation?
- The quiz uses the same signals experienced senior-living advisors use — activities of daily living (ADLs), cognitive symptoms, recent changes in health, and budget. It will get you in the right ballpark every time. A conversation with a local advisor can fine-tune it based on details the quiz cannot capture.
- What information do I need to take the assessment?
- You'll need a general sense of your loved one's age, health, help they need with daily activities, memory status, monthly budget, and zip code. You do not need medical records or detailed financial information. If you're unsure on a question, pick the best guess and an advisor will refine it later.
- Will someone call me right away?
- Only if you ask. You can take the quiz and view results without providing any contact information. If you ask us to email you the plan or call you, a local Utah advisor will reach out within one business day — usually much faster.
- Does this work outside Utah?
- The care-level recommendation is universal. The budget calibration and community shortlist are specific to Utah. If you live outside Utah, the recommendation is still valuable — and we can often refer you to a trusted advisor in your area.
