About Castle Peak Senior Life and Rehabilitation

Castle Peak Senior Life and Rehabilitation is a non-profit senior community at 195 Freestone Road in Eagle, Colorado, in the heart of the mountains along the Interstate 70 corridor. When it opened in 2016, it was the first extended-care senior community in Eagle County, and it remains a rare full-continuum option in a resort region where dedicated senior care has long been scarce. The community brings four levels of care together on one 64-residence campus: 20 assisted living apartments, a 12-suite memory care neighborhood, 10 transitional suites for short-term rehabilitation, and 22 skilled-nursing beds for longer-term care.

That spread means a resident can shift from assisted living into memory care or skilled nursing, or come in for rehab after a hospital stay, all close to home in the valley. Castle Peak was built as a public-private partnership with Eagle County and is operated by the non-profit Cassia, the organization behind the former Augustana Care, with a faith-based mission of serving older adults. Its skilled nursing is certified for both Medicare and Medicaid, which matters in a high-cost mountain county where most senior options are private pay.

Care covers medication management along with specialized needs such as diabetic and incontinence care, and the team serves residents in both English and Spanish. Daily life is built around the setting: a family-style dining room anchored by a fireplace serves home-cooked meals, and residents have a fitness center, a salon and barber shop, and comfortable lounges. Walking paths frame mountain views, and the activity calendar runs through chair yoga, tai chi, art classes, gardening, trivia, visiting speakers, and scheduled day trips and shopping outings.

Chaplain services and spiritual care are available for several traditions. Castle Peak fits Eagle County families who want to keep a parent in the valley instead of moving them out of the region for care. A resident can find assisted living, memory care, rehab, and long-term nursing in one place, and the Medicaid-certified skilled nursing opens the door for families who could not otherwise afford mountain-region care.

The community offers pet programs and welcomes pet visits. The location sits right on the Interstate 70 corridor in the town of Eagle, near Eagle Ranch. Vail Health's Edwards facility is about twenty minutes east, the main Vail Health hospital roughly thirty minutes east, and Valley View Hospital in Glenwood Springs about thirty minutes west, so hospital care runs in both directions along the valley.

Eagle County Regional Airport in Gypsum is just to the west. Operated by Cassia in partnership with Eagle County, Castle Peak Senior Life and Rehabilitation combines a full continuum of care, Medicaid-certified skilled nursing, and a genuine mountain setting, making it the anchor option for senior care in the Eagle Valley.

I am a veteran of two stays at Castle Peak, a year apart. Were it possible to give 10 stars of excellence, I would do so. Every member of the staff is professional, encouraging, and friendly. The Director stops in every day or so simply to say hello; Chef Marty Topor goes out of…

Castle Peak is incredible. I was there in rehab for 41 days. The staff and the food is 5 star. I did not visit the other sections of the building but they share the staff and the kitchen so I assume it is just as nice.
