How Memory Care Works in Idaho
Idaho does not issue a separate memory care license. Memory care here is provided inside licensed residential assisted living facilities, usually in a secured unit or a whole building with secured exits for residents living with Alzheimer's disease or another dementia. The Idaho Department of Health and Welfare licenses these facilities under IDAPA 16.03.22, and state license records show how many secured beds a facility has.
Because there is no stand-alone memory care license, the quality of memory care depends on the individual building: how the secured area is laid out, how many staff work each shift, what dementia training they have, and how daily activities are planned. Families should visit, ask about staffing at night, and ask when a resident's needs would be more than the building can meet.
Hospitals Nearby
Measured in a straight line from the average location of these communities, the closest hospitals are Saint Lukes Meridian Medical Center (about 3 miles) and Treasure Valley Hospital (about 5 miles), based on OpenStreetMap hospital data. Ask each community which hospital its residents usually use and how it arranges doctor visits and transportation.
Paying for Care
Local Senior Advisor does not have verified community-level pricing for memory care in Meridian. As a statewide figure, the 2024 CareScout Cost of Care Survey put Idaho's median for assisted living at $4,600 a month and for a semi-private nursing home room at $10,068 a month (the survey does not report memory care or independent living separately). Actual rates depend on the room, the level of care and the building. Six of these communities appear as Idaho Medicaid providers in state or federal data.
