Comfort Care Memory Care isn't one of them — all 8 beds in this Tahiti Drive household are reserved strictly for residents living with dementia, and while the license technically covers assisted living as well, nothing about daily life here resembles a general assisted living floor with a locked unit attached.

Caregivers work from a dementia-specific approach: routines that stay steady from one day to the next, gentle redirection when a resident grows confused or anxious, and direct help with the personal care tasks residents can no longer manage on their own. With only 8 people in the household, staff attention isn't spread across dozens of residents the way it would be in a much larger building. Dogs and cats are welcome here, though the household doesn't bill Medicaid and doesn't take short-term respite guests.

Since it opened, Comfort Care Memory Care has held to one purpose: dementia care inside a small, single household, distinct from its similarly named sibling, Comfort Care Assisted Living and Memory Care, a much larger, mixed-care community on Sandia Drive.
