About Solange at Bookcliff Manor
Solange at Bookcliff Manor takes its second name from the rock formations rising just north of Orchard Avenue in Grand Junction, and the community itself holds 25 residents, big enough for a proper dining room and a full activities lineup without approaching the size of a sprawling senior campus. What sets Solange apart locally is its openness to pets: a resident's dog or cat is treated as a normal part of daily life rather than an exception that requires special approval.
Caregiving here touches the routines that get harder to manage alone, including remembering pills, dressing and washing up, and having someone close by when balance turns uncertain, and that level of help grows or eases depending on how a resident is doing at any given point. Rather than sectioning off support for memory loss into its own hallway, Solange keeps the whole household together at mealtimes and during the day's activities, with staff simply paying closer attention to whoever needs it most.
The kitchen doesn't run from one printed menu; food comes out fresh across the day, and the dining room gets a full seasonal makeover for holidays. What residents and families notice most is how staff carry themselves around the building: warm, attentive, and inclined to treat each person as someone with individual preferences rather than a task on a checklist. That approach leaves room for residents who can still make their own choices to keep doing so, even while getting help with the pieces that have become harder.
Twenty-five residents is enough scale for a lively common area without losing the personal touch a much larger building can struggle to hold onto. Solange makes sense for a family weighing a mid-size, pet-welcoming option against either a tiny residential home or a large regional campus elsewhere. One detail worth planning around: Medicaid isn't accepted at this address, so covering a stay here falls to savings, family contribution, or a long-term-care policy, and short-term respite stays aren't currently part of what's offered.
Orchard Avenue puts the Bookcliffs' red-rock scenery practically at the doorstep, and Saint Mary's Medical Center is a short trip away for anything beyond what staff can manage on-site. Canyon View Park and the Colorado Riverfront Trail give residents and visiting family a change of scenery for an afternoon outing. No outside management company runs Solange; it operates on its own, and that independence shows up in a kitchen and activities calendar built around what residents here actually want, rather than a template handed down from a distant corporate office.
Environment
Solange sits on Orchard Avenue in Grand Junction, close enough to the Bookcliffs that the rock formations are visible from the property, which is where its name comes from. Twenty-five residents live here, enough for a proper dining room and activity space, well short of a sprawling regional campus.
Services
Caregivers help with medications, washing up and getting dressed, and steady footing for anyone unsure on their feet, with support easing or growing as needs change. Memory loss isn't handled in its own hallway; the household shares meals and activities together. Every resident pays privately, since Medicaid isn't accepted here.
Resident Experience
The kitchen skips a printed menu, cooking fresh across the day, and the dining room gets a full seasonal makeover for holidays. Staff carry themselves warmly, treating residents as individuals rather than tasks to complete. That leaves room for residents who can still choose their own pace to keep doing so.
